To most people, the beginning of summer means the end of school, sleeping in, and many other things. However it also means the Finals and Playoffs of the NBA, National Basketball Association, basketball season. The Playoffs lead up to the Finals. Unfortunately, the Denver Nuggets didn’t pass the first round. The Utah Jazz beat them four games to two. Soon, all the other teams combatted until two remained-the Los Angeles Lakers and the Boston Celtics, some of the best known rivals in basketball history. The Finals all started when the Lakers won Game 1 with a score of 102-89. After that, Boston caught up by winning Game 2. The players kept playing while fans kept debating on who would win. By Game 6 with a score of 3-2 and Boston in the lead, many people were sure Boston would win. They only had to win one more game.Yet the results were different; the Lakers won Game 6 to tie up the series 3-3. Unlike other Finals, these were going into a Game 7 which has only happened a couple of times in the NBA.Finally, the ending came. Whoever would win this game would win the championships. Any huge mistakes could result in losing it. By half-time, the Celtics were in the lead by several points. Like Game 6, many fans thought this could mean another championship for the Celtics. The Lakers weren’t going to give up, though, and came up with the lead at their home court. The Lakers had won, 83-79, after an amazing and captivating game. Kobe Bryant was crowned MVP for the fifth time, according to ESPN. After many inspiring games of the basketball season, the Lakers finally won and became the champions of the NBA Finals again.
