Blog Entry 17 of 24 Emma's Random Blog
Hey, my name is Emma and this is my blog. I love lacrosse and baseball. I love those spoof motivational posters. I'm in seventh grade. I'm bad at prank calling people. I like to sing and I love Broadway. During Spring Break my cousin and I watched these ninja competitions in Japanese but they had subtitles so it was okay. I like food. In the battle between you and the world, bet on the world.

Jo Bros, Please No
Contributed by: Emma Carroll   on 3/29/2008

No, please no. I open up this month's Pop Star to the poster section. Of course, the feature posters are Joe, Nick, and Kevin Jonas. And then the articles. Jonas Brother this and Jonas Brother that. Purity rings. Camp Rock. Niley. I've heard it all over and over again.

And that's not to say that I don't respect their commitment to staying chaste until marriage. With the teen pregnancy rate skyrocketing in the past few years, it's great that we have some famous people that we can look up to who think it's important to be pure untl marriage. But for some reason the teen magazines find it great to paste stories about how Nick lost his in Disneyland and Kevin lost his at the Alantis hotel and so on and so forth. It's great publicity. So much for purity.

This trio of musicians may soon become a Disney Phenomena. They are no Hannah Montana, and everyone knows that. But they may be soon, for loyal Disney fans have eagerly latched on to this band of brothers that coo out "When You Look Me in the Eyes" and "That's Just the Way We Roll." Teen magazines like J-14 and M have seen the oppurtunity and now their covers are splattered with Nick, Kevin, and Joe.

I'm not saying I absolutely hate the Jonas Brothers. I respect them and their commitment to purity, but I am tired of all the publicity from the teen magazines. I personally don't think they are that good of a band, but maybe they will become good. And I only have one more thing about the Jonas Brothers to criticize.

Camp Rock. Where do I begin? I might sit down and watch it, but to me, the plot looks dull andthe characters bland.Maybe the movie will be decent, but I'm not expecting much. And why must Disney stars expand themselves to all medias? Why are the Jonas Brothers going into cinema? Wasn't it bad enough when the started singing?

And last but certainly not least, Niley. Yeah, I totally respect Nick Jonas and Miley Cyrus on this subject. Oh, the teen magazines are soaking up the glory of Niley. Miley Cyrus and Nick Jonas, the youngest of the brothers, were secretly dating. Pop Star claims they did it in case it didn't work out. Supposedly it was a timing thing and they didn't get to see eachother a lot and Nick was surrounded by girls and Miley was surrounded by guys all the time so it was hard. I feel bad for both Miley and Nick because I know how long-distance relationships can stink.

So I guess that's just me. I don't like the Jonas Brothers as you can probably see, but I think they're okay people. Maybe I'll catch on to why girls freak out over them, or maybe not. I guess I'm just more into other music.
