Camp Lake Hubert was actually my first camp, but this is my first time at Cheley. I went to Camp Lake Hubert for two years, but now I'm deciding to go for a change. And not that CLH is bad or anything, in fact, I would totally recommend it, I just want a little change. After all, variety is the spice of life.
Everyone says that Cheley is totally awesome, so I'm gonna give it a try. I mean, you miss 100% of the shots you don't take, so what the heck? I'm pretty excited, but packing is a drag. My mom and I have spent hours labeling everything and packing it. Ugh. My last name is on EVERYTHING.
The Colorado Children's Chorale was in the newspaper last week. There was a picture of a group of them performing. My friend Mark was in the picture and so was half of my friend Slide. My nickname for Slide is Talulu and he calls me Spike. We pretend to be fashion designers sometimes. It's immature but it's funny. Once in science class we were using our goggles for an experiment and I got an idea. I turned to my friend Maeve who I was doing the lab with and said, "These goggles are the inspiration for Talulu and my spring collection!" It was funny.
My dad is giving me a "final family dinner" before I go off to camp. I asked for this chicken dish that he makes with pasta and really yummy sauce. He makes a lot of good stuff. His mom cooks really well and so does his oldest sister. I guess it's in the genes. In fact, his dad always had a garden and my dad has two gardens in the backyard. It's weird, I know.
A blogger named Emily Gould said in
The New York Times Magazine, "Maybe it makes me feel safe to think that if I tell you all of my secrets you won't have any ammo against me that I haven't given you." When I first read that I was like, "Whoa, she's pretty brave to tell the entire world her secrets." The more I thought about it, I realized that I saw her point. That doesn't mean I would ever reveal the secrets of my personal life for everyone to see, it just means that I get why she would do it. I tell about my friends and family and stuff happening in my life in my blog, but I would never have the guts or a good enough reason to reveal my intimate life on the web because it's, well, intimate. I came across this when I was really bored and the cover of
The New York Times Magazine caught my eye because it said something about blogging.
I saw a little bit of that new show Nashville Star. I had to change the channel. First of all, I don't like country music. Second, the guy I saw was terrible. Third, why does Jewel have a southern accent? That is WEIRD. I watched this comedy show called The Soup, where they review the week's pop culture events and add comedy. The host thought Jewel's new accent was odd too.
So, I won't be checking in for a while because I'll be at camp for four weeks, but when I get back I'll start posting again.
