Blog Entry 25 of 26 Photography- A Way Of Life
I've been gone for a long time! I forgot all about this great site! Now that I am back, I have one very important announcement to share. I LOVE PHOTOGRAPHY! I am dedicating this blog to all things photography. I will show you my latest, and ask that you rate it. Also, I will be showing you how to edit your own photos on a free software called GIMP. If you would like to check out my Flickr account, use this link http://www.flickr.com/photos/davisroxyoursox/ Thanks everyone! :Davis

Photoshop- Endless Possibilities
Contributed by: Davis Anderson   on 6/7/2009

I FINALLY got Adobe Photoshop CS4 Extended. I got it on Friday, one week later than I planned on. Still, it's great to have this amazing product. I'm just going to write up some things about it that I like (not really a review) about it.

Well let's start things off with this time saver: The Adjustments Panel. This awesome little panel sits right above my layers pallet, allowing me to access changes I want to make to only that layer- anytime.

One that I've had a lot of fun with so far is the "Transform" setting. This let's you distort, change the size, change the perspective, etc. of your picture. I used this to try and put a picture on my wall, and then make it look like I was going into the wall... it didn't exactly work.

I also love that you can change the opacity and blending mode of every layer. This is one of the main reasons why GIMP is a little less useful if you're really big into photography- n GIMP you're limited to one opacity and one blending mode.

Along with Photoshop, Adobe threw in Adobe Bridge CS4. This wonderful little program goes hand in hand with Photoshop (there's even a little icon with teh Bridge logo in Photoshop). It allows you to "bridge" photos straight from the internet or any other source. Then you can instantly put them in Photoshop and work on them.

All in all, I'm officially addicted to Photoshop. I get on it everyday to improve and learn new things. This summer (which is only a few days away [for me at least]) I will be getting on for somewhere around an hour a day so that I can be really good by the time we go back to school.

If I get more requests for GIMP tutorials, I will make them, otherwise, I will just make them for whatever subject I think of.
