There are five things that I'm going to review. I'm going to rate them on a scale of 1-5, 5 being the best. I have one thing from each of the following categories: Movie, Book, Toy/Game, Song/TV Show and Place.
Movie: Sydney White
Sydney White is a modern take off on Snow White, starring Amanda Bynes (Penny from Hairspray) and Sara Paxton (Aquamarine from Aquamarine). Amanda Bynes plays Sydney White, a girl who grew up with a plummer as a father. She goes off to college to be a Cappa, which is like some sort of high ranking. Her (dead) mother was a Cappa. But, she gets kicked out by the queen Cappa, Rachel (Sara Paxton). She goes to live with the "Seven Dorks". I'm not going to reveal anything else, except that the magic mirror is a list on MySpace. It's rated PG-13 for a scene of brief nudity, but I don't really think there was any nudity. I give it a 5.
Book: The Egypt Game, by Zilpha Keatley Snyder
I found this book on my English teacher's bookshelf, and I love it. It's about six kids who start a game where they pretend they're in Egypt. They use an old storage yard as "Egypt" and they use things like stuffed animals and birdbaths to make it more magical. The game starts out with just April, Melanie and Marshall, but they quickly gather Elizabeth, Toby and Ken.Zilpha Keatley Snyder has won three Newberry Awards, including for The Egypt Game. She wrote a sequel, The Gypsy Game, but I would only give that a 2. But I give this a 4.5, because it's seriously good!
Toy/Game: That Bratz doll that comes with a USB necklace
I know, Bratz are for seven-year-olds. But I love Bratz. And I got the new doll, that comes with a USB plug/necklace that you can put in your computer and play with your doll online. I haven't actually tried this, because it only works on Windows, and I happen to have an iBook. But I'll try it on my dad's computer later. And it also cost thirty bucks. So I give it a 3.
Song/TV Show: Gossip Girl
Gossip Girl was made into a TV show. I read all the award winning books, and then I watched the second episode, and I hated it! It was inaccurate, the characters weren't really that close, except for Blair, Serena and Chuck, and they messed up my favorite character, Jenny and left my other favorite, Vanessa, out. I give it a 1.5!
Place: The Corn Maze
The Corn Maze was hard this year, and I went anyway. Me and my brother made it through in about and hour and a half, with french fries, a corn dog, a flashlight, glow necklaces, a Gatorade, a cell phone, a water bottle and a Pixie Stik. It wasn't as fun, and they didn't have many snack stands. I give it a 3.5.
