School is Cool, but After School is what I Like
The Byers Branch Library in Denver, Colorado, located at 675 Santa Fe dr. is having a "School is Cool!" marathon all this month, (August). That means that every day except Saturday and Sunday starting on Wednesday, August 19, 2009, the Byers Branch will be doing all types of cool things. On the first day, Wednesday, it's "Creative Wednesday!", and that's every Wednesday, too. On Thursday it's an "After School is Cool Party* With Cupcakes!" Every Thursday the activity is different. But every Friday it is a "Friday is Fun Party! With Nintendo, Wii, snacks, bingo... Need We Say More?" party, and that's the same every Friday. Then on Monday it's "Balsa Gliders". On Tuesday it's a craft where you can make your own pendants! But hurry, this class is limited to fifteen children only. Again, every Wednesday it's "Creative Wednesday". Then Thursday you can make "Mosaic Sun Catchers", but this class is limited to fifteen children at most. Again every Friday it's "Fun Friday!". Then on the last Monday, August 31, 2009 is "Moonscapes!".
I asked Miguel a staff member at the Byers Branch, a few questions about the programs, and he said that all of these programs are all school year. If you are interested, you can come to the Byers Branch and get the new schedules. The Byers Branch hours are Monday-Friday 10:00 am to 6:00 pm, Saturday 9:00 am to 5:00 pm and the library is closed on Sundays.
I think that these activities would be fun because they are interesting and they will get more children into reading, I saw one little girl looking at books even though I could tell she wasn't old enough to read. That's one girl getting excited about reading!
These activities are from 4:15-5:15. Two of the activities on the list are a limited number of children, if you would like to participate in it, call 720-865-0160!
