Presidents and First Ladies, An enjoyable book
Contributed by: Susan Cheng on 5/10/2008

Do you know that Andrew Jackson was the first president born in a log cabin? That James A. Garfield was assassinated? Or that Grover Cleveland was president twice? Abigail Fillmore was the first first lady to make money by herself before she married? If not, then Presidents and First Ladies is a book for you. This awesome book is crammed with information about the presidents and first ladies. From Washington to Bush, each section for presidents include: their full name, a short description of their life, which president they were, what years they served, when and where they were born, when they were inaugurated as president, what party they were, and when and where they died. It also states additional information about what they did. Each first lady has their full name, a short description of their life, when they were first lady, when and where they were born, when and where they were born, their children, and when and where they died. Each president has a timeline of key events. If the presidents were of more importance, the book provided additional information about that president.

But, I wouldn't recommend this to everyone. I would only recommend Presidents and First Ladies if you like to read about presidents. I really enjoyed this book because of the amazing amount of information crowded in the book. For example, I never knew that William Clinton, or as most people know, Bill Clinton, was impeached. The only thing that I thought could be improved is to make it more fun to read because I thought it was boring, and half the time didn't want to read it.

Presidents and First Ladies is a 90 page book mainly edited by C. Carter Smith. The book's pictures were portraits and pictures, so there was no illustrator. The publisher was DK Publishing, Inc. I would give this book 4 and ¾ out of 5 stars.
