Red Dragon Codex is flying high!
Contributed by: Felicia Pichulo on 5/14/2008

Do you love action and adventure? Do you want to read a book that will send shivers down your spine? If you answered yes then you need to read Red Dragon Codex, the first book of a series of ten. Each book deals with a type of colored dragon, new characters, and a different situation to keep things fresh and exciting. This series is based on the New York Times bestseller A Practical Guide to Dragons, which had fans begging for more dragon adventure tales.

In the first book, main character Mudd must go on an almost impossible quest to rescue the village seer, Shemnara being held captive by a powerful red dragon named Redclaw. To help with his quest, Mudd brings along his sister, Heira - who is my favorite character because of her bravery, stubborness, and fighting skills, and other unexpectedallies he meets along the way. Before Mudd and his party can rescue Shemnara they need to search for a magic pendant hidden in the mountains. As they travel through the mountains, they encounter Owlbears and Ghouls who are attempting to block their way to finding the pendant and saving their friend. This story has ups and downs, a ton of action, and a few suspensful moments that have you holding onto your seat as you travel with Mudd and the gang through trials and victories.

Red Dragon Codex has 243 pages and is written by R.D. Henham. I would recommend this book for kids in 3rd to 6th grade because of some confusing words and situations.

I really enjoyed the adventures of Mudd and Heira in this story and look forward to the next book in the series.
