"Wake" up, but don't "Fade" away!
Contributed by: Jordan Walker-Cardos on 4/22/2009

I was sent the book Fade by my editor, Jill Armstrong, and I realilzed it was the sequal to the book Wake by Lisa McMann. I went to my local library and picked it up, what can I say about them? Wow. I didn't necessarily like her style of writting, I thought that it was kind of scattery.Onepagecan have Janie in love and the next page they could be cursing at each other and not talking to eachother for weeks.McMann did have something when she thought of Janie's story. The books are about this girl, Janie, who can see other peoples dreams. She can be sitting in class when someone will doze off and leave her blacked out on the floor waiting helplessly for the dreamer to awake. Janie realizes that she has to find a way to pull out of these dreams, some of them being not so pretty. I mean, think about what you have dreamed about in your life time: would you want someone-anyone-to see? One day while working her part-time job in a nursing home she finds one of her favorite patients has died. Her name was Miss.Stubin and Miss. Stubin also had the same ability as Janie. In the second book, Fade, Janie now has a stable (secret) boyfriend, Cabel, who works as an undercover Jr. cop, who was assigned to do a drug-bust on one of the "popular girl's" fathers. Janie gives the police a big help and is now part of the team. this time around though, there is an assaulter at their school, that they believe to be as one of the teachers and Janie is the live bait. Mr. Durbin, her Chem teacher, seems to be their big suspect. Will janie make it ourt okay? Will Cabel approve her decision to help on the case? What will Janie do when the predator takes the bait? I approve this book as a "pg-13". Most definately, it has very strong language and "adult situations". Overall, The books were very good, and I hope that she is writting another one.
