A Cheerful Read? No. A Good Read? YES!!
Contributed by: Sara Hughes on 9/27/2009

If you like drama that keeps you on the edge of your seat with a side of adventure, this is the book for you! I read "The Day My Mother Left" by James Prosek. It's about a boy named Jeremy who lives with his mother, father and sister. Sounds all good, right? Well here comes the drama... Jeremy's mother leaves the family for the father of his arch enemy! Due to this tragedy, Jeremy's father goes into a depression and his sister is never home anymore. Jeremy finds comfort in drawing to get him through it all.

As the years pass, Jeremy and his family gain strength and become used to life without his mom. He doesn't see his mom for three years but then he discovers his sister has been secretly visiting her and it makes him want to see her again.
Does Jeremy ever see or speak to his mom again? You'll have to read the book!

Yes, the book is very dramatic and not a happy story but it kept me interested! It's best for mature readers 11 and older due to some language and certain content. Go to your public library (or book store) to find "The Day My Mother Left". You'll be glad you did!
