The Nuggets go into the 09-10 season with the expectations of the entire nation to do well after a near trip to the NBA Finals last season. The Nuggets start the regular season tomorrow night against the Utah Jazz at 8:30 mountain time. Chauncey Billups, the point guard who led the nuggets to the Western Conference Game against the Los Angeles Lakers last season, switched his number from seven to his regular number of one and hopes to have as successful of a season as last year. The reason Chauncey couldn't wear the number one last ear was because it was occupied by the sharp, 3-point shooting, shooting guard, J.R. Smith who led the Western Conference in 3-point shots made last season and now wears the number five. The star of the Nuggets is, and hopefully will be for years to come, Carmelo Anthony, who Billups really matured on and off the basketball court and is now playing the basketball of his life, has blossomed in to one of the best small forwards in the league and is still only 25 years old. The Nuggets were the second seed in the Western Conference last year and their only team that they had trouble beating were the Lakers and Kobe Bryant. The Nuggets breezed through the first two rounds of the playoffs but were beaten in five games by the Lakers in in the Western Conference Championship. The Nuggets look to improve after a great season in 08-09 and have new additions too, such as Arron Afflalo, Malik Allen, and first round draft pick Ty Lawson from North Carolina.
