"Fantastic Pets" is a virtual reality game in which players can choose from a selection of different pets and treat like them like their own. The game requires the Kinect game system, and allows the pet to be onscreen with you. Fantastic Pets was released in April of 2011 for around $40 and is really for all ages.
In the beginning, you choose a pet. You can choose from dogs, cats, lizards, and ponies. The pet can be created in a variety of colors and sizes with horns or wings. There are many games to play and a computer helps you work through all of the games. You can collect "GEMS" (Genetic Energy Module) after completing each game.
By using the "GEMS, "you can unlock new games and buy things for your pet. You can even change the pattern, the tail, the horns, and the wings if you want to. There are a variety of hand motions and commands for you to speak for your pet to do different things. Some games are harder to play than other games, so the difficulty depends on each game.
You can enter talent shows and compete against other pets, with mini games. If you get 1st, 2nd, or 3rd place, you can get a bronze, silver, or gold medal. There is also a toy box and a smart phone. The toy box lets you play with your pet. There are also many options of games and toys inside which can be unlocked with "GEMS." The smart phone has all sorts of things to help you, including an encyclopedia! When your pet wants something, a bubble will appear around its head. Your pet might want a shower, food, water, or some other things.
You can play with up to two players at a time. The sound and pictures are really good and overall, I give this game four out of five "GEMS".
