.Lotus School of Excellence (LSE) just opened a new elementary school on Alameda Blvd. in Aurora, Colorado. The new students started school on August 5, 2010. Dressed in uniforms, the students entered the building for the first time. There are 2 classrooms for each grade. The school remodeled new classrooms so the younger children would have a place to learn.
"The classrooms are new. They have new PCs for technology," exclaimed Beth Ann Dupuis-Spiva, a fifth grader at Lotus.
"It's neater," agreed her first grade sister Olivia.
LSE's a smaller school. "I think kids get lost in a big school," said their mother, Misty. "There are more opportunities in a smaller school."
When LSE first opened in 2006, it was just 6 - 8th grade. This new addition brings about another 300 students to their school for a total of around 650 students. The school is continuing to grow with plans to cover K-12. Currently LSE is a K -11 school. LSE is a tuition free public charter school focusing on science, math and technology. They are in the Aurora Public School system, but open to all students.
