If you're babysitting your younger siblings, and you just can't get them to behave, or even if you're just bored, and feel like watching a movie or TV show, finding something that you or your siblings are sure to like just got easier with the new feature found in Netflix, Netflix Just for Kids.
Netflix is a widely popular service that allows users to receive DVDs they chose on the Netflix website in the mail, and, more recently, stream many movies and TV shows directly from any computer with an Internet connection. Netflix has always had content for all ages, but, until recently, it was all mixed together.
Pretty recently, Netflix unveiled the Just for Kids tab, this tab brings a new way of browsing around for movies and TV shows, but this content is content specifically chosen "Just for Kids".At the top of the screen, you see many popular children's characters, including Spongebob, Dora the Explorer, and Phineas and Pherb. Under that, movies and TV shows are sorted by categories that younger children can easily relate to, including princesses, superheroes, and dinosaurs.
Todd Yellin, Netflix Vice President of Product Innovation, explains that "Kids discover and categorize movies and TV shows differently than adults." That, along with the fact that almost half of the 25 million Netflix users have watched at least two movies or TV shows created specifically for children in the past 90 days, inspired Netflix to create this Just for Kids feature.
The Netflix streaming service is available not only on any computer, but on many other devices as well, including the XBOX 360, the iPhone and iPad devices, and the Wii. Currently, Netflix Just for Kids is only available on the computer, but, according to the Neflix press release, should be rolling out on other device over the next year.
So, for $7.99 a month for unlimited streaming movies (add $7.99 a month for DVDs), you can sit back and relax, and entertain your younger siblings (or yourself) with a little content designed "Just for Kids".
