It really is true, gymnastics is hard but, is also super fun. Please, take it from me I would be one to know. I'm a gymnast. I know it sounds advanced and that's because it is, not only the name but, you that's what you need to be or push yourself to be anyway. Trust me though, it's super fun, the experience is awesome, to be able to do amazing things with your body and be healthy! Who isn't up for that?!When you watch someone do gymnastics you may think 'Wow! That flip looked like a breeze!'. No. Not even close. Truth be told, it probably took them months to learn that move and they may still struggle with it.
The same goes for me, even if my body is flexible or so I'm told, I struggle with certain exercises on the bars. Also, there are four elements or tasks in gymnastics; bars, beam, floor, and vault. All can be both tough and easy.
On bars you must accomplish a chin-up pullover and a glide to pass level two. On vault there are four general jumps to learn but they come in handy in all four elements of gymnastics; straddle, pike tuck, and straight. On beam there are many different walks including: dips, backwards, pivot, and even somersaults and cartwheels. Finally on floor there certain things you need to know to pass level one and two, these include:cartwheels, round-offs, backwards roll, and handstands.
As you advance to levels higher than one and two you do harder stuff on all of the above.
A very important part of gymnastics is stretching. Stretching includes running laps in the program I do the number of laps progresses each week. we may start off with 10 the first week then it goes up by two each week until you reach 20 laps. you must be able to complete 20 laps to pass the level. Stretching also includes sitting in a straddle position and leaning to one side then the other and going down to the middle. You also practice going into your bridges and the American splits.
I hope I haven't overwhelmed you with all the work gymnastics involves because it really is fun and is a sport I really love and enjoy! If you decide to join gymnastics or are already involved you may be able to say the same too!
