The Governor's Inauguration Day ceremony was one of the most exciting events I have ever been to! The best part of the day, for me, was at the student luncheon where I got to interview some of the kids who had won a project contest in order to come to the inauguration. This was my favorite part of the day because I got to hear a lot of different perspectives of the students' experiences at the inauguration.
One girl I interviewed said Mr. Hickenlooper is going to be a great governor and another girl I interviewed said she still isn't sure if Mr. Hickenlooper will be a good governor. Most of the students I interviewed said they really liked the inauguration ceremony and had a really good time.
Another awesome experience for me was getting to see a Southern Native American tribe blessing ceremony. The ceremony was done to wish Governor Hickenlooper good luck as the new governor. Another exciting part of the day was meeting Governor Hickenlooper. I got to shake his hand and tell him that we were Junior reporters for the Denver Post.
The inauguration was held outside at the Capitol Building and we were sitting outside for almost three hours! Even though we were really really cold it was a fun time. While we were at the Capitol Building we got to sit with all the other reporters. This was exciting because I got to see first hand what goes on in the media section at an event.
