This summer I competed in Colorado Junior Team Tennis (along with my 6 teammates) and I had a blast.
Junior Team Tennis is open to kids ages under 10-18. If you are bored of your regular summer routine this is for you; it has something new and different for everyone; (including the chance to go and play in the state tournament).I had a lot of fun while getting a ton of exercise at the same time.
One of the most interesting things was the seeds; there are seeds such as the number 1 seed the number 2 seed etc. (the number 1 seed is the best). So each team sets up their line-up; the best player will probably play number 1 singles, and the 2nd and 3rd best players will probably play number 1 doubles; (this is because if you play singles you have to hit the ball every time, but if you play doubles you only have to hit the ball half of the time; therefore singles requires more accuracy). What is kind of neat about this set-up is that the players play people that have the same skill and ability.
Unfortunately it is too late to register for the 2011 season but if you want to register next season here's how:
# 1. Find a team in your area (either at a private club or Denver Parks and Rec).
#2. Join the club and start taking tennis lessons.
#3. The tennis team will register you online.
Through Junior Team Tennis I met a lot of new people, learned sportsmanship, and just had fun.
