"Geostorm" is essentially a controlled version of the movie 2012. Extreme natural disasters like hail the size of baseballs, waves 100ft high,  and dust tornadoes ravage the earth. A Geostorm is when hundreds of these extreme disasters meet, and hundreds of thousands of miles are covered in various types of storms. To combat this, scientists and engineers from 17 countries build a metal web around the world to control the weather. The web was nicknamed Dutch Boy. Dutch Boy has satellites that shoot special beams to kill storm clouds and settle water. However, The system was failing, and in a desert in the middle of Afghanistan, a town FROZE into ice. That’s right, a desert town froze. The lighthouse used to guide the ships is now shining in the captain’s eye, turning the good against itself. The chief scientist who built Dutch Boy was just fired by his own brother, on orders from a cranky judge, killing their chance of stopping the failure that would happen three years later. I would tell you more, but I don’t want to be a spoiler. I guess you’ll just have to go and see it yourself!
Something that I would have wanted to see in the movie is a "sharknado," a tornado filled with sharks. They had tsunamis and dust tornadoes, but I would have like to have seen a water version of this.
There were many key characters Like Max (Jim Sturgess), Jake (Gerard Butler), Sarah (Abbie Cornish), and the president (Andy Garcia). Sarah was Max’s fiance, and Max was Jake’s brother. Max, Jake, and Sarah all worked for the government. Jake designed Dutch boy and oversaw its building. He knows it best because, well when you design something, you usually know a lot about it.

This is a great movie about catastrophe. It looks very real and was super interesting. In fact, it is now one of my top 5 favorite movies. This is a movie rated PG-13, and I think it would be good for anyone age 10 to 90. Kids under 10 will most likely get scared during the movie or have nightmares afterwards, and This is a great, interesting movie, perfect for family movie night.
