Summer Burning

Mia Malden

Summer burning bright,
Undaunted by the night.
Shining in the fields of wheat,
Palpable in the warming heat.
A golden globe hung in the sky,
The universe's beautiful eye.
Sun blinks and stares,
Her gaze bouncing about like a bear.
She turns her face to the earth,
Understanding what its life is worth.
Her pretty hair hangs in a curtain,
Keeping life safe and certain.
