Water Park After Hours Fun!

On July 22, 2016 in Elitch Gardens, the movie “Star Wars: The Force Awakens” was playing in the Water Park at 7:30 p.m.. Every Friday from July 1st till August 5, Dive-In Movies are playing at the Water Park. At a Dive-In Movie, people may use tubes to float in or just swim in the pool while watching a pre-selected movie on a large screen to the right side of the wave pool.

It was fun floating in the water while watching the brand-new Star Wars movie. The water was lukewarm but still warm enough for comfort. Since there were some clouds and light rain before the movie, the Water Park pool did not open until 8 p.m. (a delay of 30 minutes) that night.

It was packed with kids and families, but I could easily hear the movie. I would definitely do it again. Most of the restaurants were open but not all. The Water Park usually closes at 6 p.m., but they keep it open on Dive-In Movie nights. The only restriction is that from 6 p.m. until the movie starts, the Water Park is not available for swimming.

Four movies have already been shown (Star Wars: the Force Awakens, Hotel Transylvania 2, Minions, and The Spongebob Movie). But do not worry there are still 2 movies left - they are The Good Dinosaur (July 29th), and Inside Out (August 5th).

This is only one of the many, many, many events that occur at Elitch’s. There is also Theme Thursdays, shows, concerts, and other special events. Theme Thursdays are parties that are based on a different thing every Thursday. For example, last Thursday was Star Wars themed at the theme park with songs, games, and a character meet and greet. Also, coming up is the Red, White, and Blue Summer Games with games, (obviously!) contests and a meet and greet with Jon Lujan.

Many shows run through Trocadero Theatre. The newest is “Squirm Burpee” which is a show about saving the show. It’s hard to explain just watch it yourself. Concerts occur in Elitch’s Arena. The most recent were Echosmith and Rachel Platten.

One of my favorite Special Events at Elitch Gardens is Fright Fest. In the day you can come, but it might not be very scary. Or, you could come at night and pay to go through a scary haunted house and you may wear a costume if you want. Fright Fest occurs on weekends during the month of October.
