Get on your space alien hunting gear because the aliens are invading the universe of clay! Platypus is a new game for the Play Station Portable (PSP). This game is all about when evil aliens come to destroy the clay world. You play as a small yellow spacecraft who must defend your world from the aliens. With fruit, power up stars, and giant space crafts, this game will give you a little laugh and a whole lot of fun! The graphics are fantastic! What makes it so amazing is that it was actually made from clay! It would have taken a lot of work and a lot of soul to pull this one off!
During the game, you earn up your points by defeating space aliens and collecting fruit that they drop. The bigger the spacecraft the more fruit and points you get. Earning points in necessary because of the high score table for story and survival modes. Power up stars seem to be very helpful! Depending on the color, it changes what type of missile you are shooting at your rivals. My favorite happens to be the blue star. It allows you to shoot the regular missile, but it shoots a whole lot more a whole lot faster! There are also others that allow you big beams of light, moving missiles in every direction, and so much more!
In Platypus, there are different worlds in which there are about three to four areas. You must complete all the Areas to continue to move on. Each World and Area will bring stronger, bigger, and scarier spacecrafts than before! You must find those stars and collect them to bring down the gigantic enemies! In the beginning of Platypus, you will start on World One, Area One (obviously) and you will first face your easiest rivals, the UFO's. The UFO's can only shoot out one shot at a time, but they come in large packs so you must watch out for them. The numbers and sizes will increase the further you go along, so don't get too cocky!
Platypus is a fun game that will keep you busy for an hour or two. It helps you with you hand-eye coordination. You'll also learn to move around and to dodge blasts while also shooting blasts!
I recommend this game to kids eight and up. If you are thirteen or fourteen you may find this game to be a little boring. Platypus can be found at you local game store or even Target or Wal-Mart. So prepare the battle device and get ready to take down some aliens!
