Last Chance Forever – The Bird of Prey ConservancyAshley AcheeTexas, home of President Bush, cactuses, prairie dogs, and the Last Chance Forever Bird of Prey Conservancy. Last Chance Forever is a nonprofit organization in San Antonio, Texas, dedicated to the rehabilitation and release of injured, sick, and orphaned raptors, hawks, owls, eagles, falcons, and vultures. Last Chance Forever is an exciting introduction to “scary” birds and a great way to view them in a whole new light. Touring the facility and grounds of the Conservancy allows visitors to learn firsthand about the rehabilitation process and the research that has been contributing to the conservation of America’s wildlife heritage for the past 26 years. Some of the smaller birds are on the grounds without being caged, and can be easily seen. The larger birds, such as vultures, and raptors, whose wings span 7 feet, are caged. Staff members demonstrate how previously injured or orphaned falcons are rehabilitated to return to their natural habitats through reprogramming their feeding capabilities. They offer 200 programs each year to hundreds of visitors each year. Last Chance Forever offers a truly amazing learning experience for birds lovers of all ages.
