Many people think foxes live in forests or woods. They do, but they also live in Denver’s neighborhoods. One fox lives in my yard! It has been seen at night, but once it was spotted sleeping in the middle of the yard in the day! Where is the den? We don’t know. Will we ever get rid of it? Hopefully! Foxes will eat rodents, birds, rabbits, and berries. They will eat the inside of the animal and leave the fur or feathers behind. Once we even found a rabbit fur in our yard! Foxes are not known for preying on adult cats, but twice we have found our cat cornered by the fox- once on our front porch and once on our back patio. Our neighbor’s cat was found after being killed by a wild animal. Until we figure out how to get rid of the fox, we must keep our cat inside.
