Are you looking for a great history exhibit? Then the Arvada History Museum is the place for you. It is very enjoyable and informative.Mr. Collin Parson, the exhibition designer, explained that in 1976 a decision was reached to make a history museum. Some items there are on loan, such as the Native American displays. All the artifacts at the museum are from the Arvada Historical Society, but the museum also receives items from everywhere. Upon asked, Mr. Parson said, “The Hanes Log Cabin is probably our oldest artifact here.” Personally, the Hanes Log cabin is my favorite exhibit. Inside the dim cabin you will find a quaint old bed, a little stove used for heating, a few clothes, and maybe a chest here and there. Two stoves are part of the cabin exhibit. A smaller one for heat and the bigger one for cooking. Surprisingly, the bigger stove is kept outside. It makes one wonder how the Hanes family cooked when it was snowing and raining. If you are accompanied by a tour guide, you can actually step inside the cabin! Be sure to visit this main attraction. If you go to the Arvada History Museum, it is open 9:00-6:00 Monday through Friday, 9:00-5:00 on Saturday, and 1:00-5:00 on Sunday. It is for all ages and admission is free. I really enjoyed looking through the galleries at the museum, and I know you will too.
