"Miss Nelson is Missing" is a musical play about a lady named Miss Nelson who is a nice lady but has a class that is mischievous kids and are difficult to work with namely Adam, Cheryl, Allison, and Gregory. One day she did not show up in class, a substitute by the name of Miss Swamp came to teach the class. However, Miss Swamp is a mean and very strict teacher who gave them a lot of work to do. Realizing what they had, they frantically search for Miss Nelson so they can beg her to come back.

Kathleen Murphy takes us on a backstage tour behind the "Miss Nelson is Missing" play. She likes to be a part of children shows. Kathleen is not in plays but was in a school play once. She used to be a stage manager but likes to work backstage. She showed us the set and costumes that they will be using. The set was painted using faux painting which easily creates the illusion of natural materials such as wood or marble. Actors and Actresses have lights around the mirrors so they know how they will look like onstage. They use a dress form to try on clothes instead of having an actor or actress stand for hours putting on clothes.

Creating a play, much more a musical, involves a lot of hard work especially backstage. Coordination and timing between the actors/actresses and the backstage crew are the key to having a fun filled hour of entertainment. Rehearsals are being held regularly.

'Miss Nelson is Missing" is filled with one-hour of music and dancing that will appeal for all ages. The play is coming to the Arvada Center starting on September 25, 2007. Don't miss it!
