My dad and I cooked a fish dinner that we created for my entire family. First, we went to a cookbook and decided what we wanted to make. I looked at three cookbooks. We decided to make Orange Glazed Salmon from the cookbook Cooking Light 5 Ingredient 15 Minute Cookbook. Then we went shopping for the ingredients at Safeway. I knew I wanted to put a fruit on the dinner plate, and I decided to pick grapefruit because I saw in another cookbook grapefruit juice. I also knew I wanted to put a little salad on there. I picked macaroni salad from the deli which I didn’t end up liking. I also purchased salmon, 2 oranges, soy sauce, a box of rice, and orange juice. We also bought dessert which was angel food cake with whipped cream. Next we went home and made it. I put the fish in the pan and on the stove. I put the salt and pepper on it. I did most of the ingredients except using a sharp knife. My dad is who did the sharp knife. We put grapefruit on the side of the plate. We had an orange juice, grapefruit juice and soda water for the drink, and mixed it all together. My favorite part was the salad. We had some lettuce, we had the grapefruit, and we had the olive oil and orange juice, we mixed all the juices together and we made the dressing for the salad. Then we put some almonds and croutons in it. My brother only liked the appetizer which was carrots in peanut butter. My sister and mom loved the salmon. My dad liked the salad, like I did, and the salmon. My whole family loved the dinner that I cooked. Here is the recipe: 4 salmon fillets 1/4 tsp salt 1/4 tsp pepper cooking spray 3 T soy sauce 3 T orange juice (I added in grapefruit juice too!) 1/2 tsp olive oil (not sesame oil like the cookbook) Cook the salmon with salt and pepper on it. (3 minutes on each side cover and cook 3 additional munites until flakes). Add soy sauce and juices to skillet, cook to deglaze. Add olive oil and stir well. Add sauce to fish and serve immediately. Salad: lettuce, almonds, croutons. Dressing: orange juice, grapefruit juice, olive oil, sugar, salt and pepper. Dessert: Angel food cake and whipped cream.
