Grade: B+ One of the hottest movies in town is called I am Legend. This movie is based on Richard Matheson’s 1954 novel I Am Legend, following 1964’s The Last Man on Earth and 1971’s The Omega Man. This horror and sci-fi film stares Will Smith as Dr. Robert Neville, trying to save the world from extinction. This disaster was caused by a genetically re-engineered measles virus called Krippin Virus or KV, originally created as a cancer. But it rapidly spreads around the globe to more than 99% of the people on the planet. 90% of the world’s population is dead and 9% is mutated, and they degenerate into an animal state driven by hunger and blind rage. Military virologist Robert Neville is the last healthy human survivor in New York City and he thought he was the only living person without the disease in the world. The “Infected” people, who react painfully to UV radiation hides in the building during the day and swarms out at night. In the action-filled movie, Robert Neville tries to withstand all odds and save man kind from destruction. If you don’t like movies that will scare you to death, then don’t even try to watch this. The mutated guys are real scary and the sudden movements will definitely scare you.
