Chicken Soup for the Preteen Soul is an amazing book for ages 9-13. Most of the stories are written by preteens about experiences they went through to help other preteens deal with the same situations. Although most of the stories were written by preteens, several of the stories were written by the very popular Mia Hamm, Karl Malone, Beverly Mitchell, andN*SYNC. Also featured are the #1 New York Times Best Seller authors Jack Canfield, Mark Victor Hansen, Patty Hansen, and Irene Dunlap. Some of the situations written about were on death and dying, overcoming obstacles, choices, and many other challenges. I really liked how open and honest the kids were. I could never be as honest as them and let the whole world know what had personally happened to me. I was especially amazed at how good of writers they were, mostly because they were very young. It was also very touching and let me know I wasn’t alone. There are other kids going through the same difficulty as me. I definitely recommend this 356 page book to anyone, boy or girl, between the ages of 9-13, especially if you’re feeling down or negative about life. I know that you’re thinking about how long the book is, but you get so attached it is over before you know it. If you read and enjoy this book, you may also enjoy Chicken Soup for the Preteen Soul 2, Chicken Soup for the Girl’s Soul (if you are a girl), or look into other books in the Chicken Soup series. Though Chicken Soup for the Preteen Soul was published way back in 2000 by Health Communications, Inc., I believe it’s ready to make a comeback.
