Don't let the title get you wrong, this adorable graphic novel is not about the evil Mr. Pumpkin, who steals Claire's muffins.
Don't let the title get you wrong, this adorable graphic novel is not about the evil Mr. Pumpkin, who steals Claire's muffins. "Claire and the Bakery Thief" is about a young city girl named Claire who moves to the country with her parents and her dog. Claire wishes she could go back to the city. Claire believes the only thing in Bellevale, her new town, is cows and trees. When Claire's parents open up their organic bakery, The Grain of Truth, an artificial flavoring salesman comes in. Claire's mom soon mysteriously disappears, and it is up to Claire and her new friend Jet to save her.
First of all, I don't even really like graphic novels, but this one changed my perspective. With cute little diary entries from Claire and her mom's recipes, this is hardly a graphic novel at all! I would recommend this book mostly for second or third grade girls, but really anyone can read this adorable little book by Janice Poon and still enjoy it.
