The movie “Knights of South Bronx” is about a teacher substitute, Mr. Mason, who changes the lives of five fourth graders. The fourth grade class is made up of poor black and Puerto Rican kids who lack confidence. The find their confidence through the game of chess. The children are very smart kids but they have never cared to show how smart they really are. One child, Jimmy, is having trouble with his family life and with the bullies. He gets himself into a lot of trouble. He was running from the police one day and he ran into an outdoor chess competition that Mr.Mason was playing in. That is were he got the idea of Mr.Mason teaching the class how to play chess. Mr.Mason taught the kids how to play and took them to a few chess competitions that kids their age could participate in. The kids started to care about their thoughts and actions. They also learned how to use there confidence. “The Knights of South Bronx” was one of the most touching movies that really makes you think about other kids situations.
