Get Your Kong-Fu On!

After reviewing one of the most anticipated movies of the summer, Kong Fu Panda, I was completely blown away. Literally. It wasn’t the manager’s fault that the sound was turned up so loud that I could barely hear myself talk. The loudness actually made the movie much more enjoyable with the ‘enhanced’ sound. I really thought I was practicing my Kong-Fu with Po and the gang. Anyway, back to the movie. I had heard that Kong Fu Panda was a really good movie. I was just dying to see it and review it. I was really pumped about this movie and I was expecting a good show. I think I got more than I bargained for. Jack Black had his best appearance I have ever seen. Voicing the over-sized panda Po, Black brought more to the screen than was expected. He was completely amazing and it was a real pleasure to see him bring so much character into a computer-generated panda. But it wasn’t just Black who brought this movie altogether. Angelina Jolie voices Tigress, a jealous tiger who believes she should be the Dragon Warrior. Jolie really does a wonderful job at her part as she brings excitement to the screen when Tigress works out her Kong-Fu skills. Dustin Hoffman plays the part of Shifu, the trainer of Po and the gang. Seth Rogen and Lucy Liu play Mantis and Viper, who have minor but important roles in the film. David Cross plays the helpful Crane in the blockbuster hit while Tai Lung is voiced by Ian McShane, the villan in Kong Fu Panda. Last but not least is Jackie Chan who voices Monkey. Monkey didn’t have many speaking parts in the film. When he did however, they were brief and usually consisted of ‘Yes, no, okay’. But, he was usually the center of attention when the fighting came around. Overall, I was very impressed with the film. I was constantly laughing and found myself singing ‘Kong Fu Fighting’ as I left the theater, which is the theme song for the film. The graphics were amazing, with more detail than ever before. I can’t wait for another Dream Works film to arrive at the theater as I will be the first in line to buy tickets. Last but not least, the tagline for the film was ‘Prepare for awesomeness’. After seeing this film, I was awsomenessed out. Literally.
