Dark Knight Amazes

Grade: APG-13Wow. This is not your typical movie. This is not your ho-hum, blow up some building super hero movie. This is the ultimate summer movie. Again, wow.Gotham City. The town where Bruce Wayne (Christian Bale) resides and Batman (Bale) fights crime. This time, Batman’s out to dismantle the remaining crime organizations, along with District Attorney Harvey Dent (Aaron Eckhart) and Lieutenant Jim Gordon (Gary Oldman), but finds that he, as well as Dent and Gordon, are prey to a criminal mastermind known as the Joker (Heath Ledger). Batman is involved in a game of prey and predator, with the roles changing often. And while Batman has his own problems, Bruce Wayne is struggling with the relationship between Dent and Rachel Dawes (Maggie Gyllenhaal), who was Wayne’s lover. The Joker continues to unleash chaos while a scandal with the mob and a Chinese banker unfolds. Incredible battle scenes and plot twist unfold beautifully and make the movie enjoyable and adrenaline filled. The acting is superb, most notable is Heath Ledger, playing the Joker. He portrayed absolute evil and criminal insanity and did it well. He was clever and full of wit, yet showed that he was evil at the same time. Perhaps the most impressive thing about Ledger was that he never broke consistency. He never got angry or frustrated, and kept a taunting grin on his face throughout the movie. One of the odd things he does in the movie is change the story of how he got his scars every time he tells it. In one story he says the his father asks him, “Why so serious?” It is one of the best and most haunting scenes in the movie.Christian Bale held up his own, however. He was able to act as both Batman and Bruce Wayne, and do both well. As Wayne, he was smooth talking and sophisticated, yet showed his insecurities well; and as Batman, he was fierce, strong, and authoritative.Other strong points in the cast are Aaron Eckhart as Harvey Dent and Morgan Freeman as Lucius Fox. Freeman is smart and witty, and Eckhart shows the inner struggles of a man geniusly.Plot twist indeed made it fun, but parts of the plot were complex and hard to understand. The scandal with the mob, the chinese banker, and the Joker is complicated, but not boring. This movie is definitely something to see. It’s wonderfully acted, scripted, and the special effects are very good.

  1. Great job!
Great job! It’s so sad how this was the last film that Heath completed though. He was such a talented actor and was amazing in this film.
