Ben Taber is representing Colorado Springs, District 5 at the Democratic National Convention. What makes him special is that he is the youngest Colorado delegate. He is eighteen years old and just graduated from high school this past spring.How does it feel to be the youngest delegate from Colorado?BT – It is a great honor to be chosen as the youngest delegate in Colorado.When did you decide to get involved in politics?BT – Politics have always been my passion. I have always been interested in politics because of the adrenalin rush and because my sister died of ulcerative colitis. I got into politics so that I could bring it (ulcerative colitis) to people’s attention. How have you been preparing for the 2008 Democratic National Convention?BT – I have been fundraising to help the convention, reading different books about politics and presidential elections, and talking to the media.What do you hope to gain from attending the DNC?BT – More knowledge about the political process and the presidential experience.Who will you be supporting in this election?BT – Barack ObamaWhy do you feel he will make the best president?BT – He will be the best president because he brings everybody together, reaches out to everybody, and is creating unity.What are your plans for the future?BT – I am going to college at Colorado College. I don’t know exactly what I am going to do, but I might want to be involved in the Foreign Service. What do you plan to major in?BT – International Politics but I have not declared my major yet.What do you like to in free time?BT – I like to run and will run cross-country for Colorado College. I like reading and spending time with my friends and family.
