The great, the magnificent, and also the handsome Todd Eldredge. Who is Todd Eldredge? Only one of the best figure skater of all times. Mr. Eldredge has won the World Championship in 1996 and he is a 6 time National Champion. Oh, did I forget to mention the 3 times he went to the Olympics. He is now retired, but that has not slowed him down at all.
On February 4th I got to meet and skate with Todd. I also got the honor of meeting his special guests. The Creative Perspectives (Autism Center of Colorado). Mr. Eldredge made us all feel at home on the ice and had no problem lending us a hand when we needed it. WOW! What a great guy. The Colorado and Denver Figure Skating Club got to show Todd all their cool moves. In return, he showed us some moves he will be performing at the Sumcker's Stars on Ice. Channel 7 news reporter Keith Pervost also joined in on the fun. Mr. Pervost attempted some of the more difficult jumps and spins. (and it wasn't pretty).
I asked Keith if he was excited to be skating with the great Todd Eldredge. He said " Super Dooper excited". After all the fun skating I got to sit down and talk with Mr. Eldredge. I asked who inspired you the most in life? He said " My Parents".
Next, how did it feel to be inducted into the U.S. Figure Skating Hall of Fame? He replied "It was very exciting to be in the same presence with people I looked up to and believed in."
Some of the students at my school (Westgate) wanted to know "What is your favorite junk food"? He jokingly smiled "Chocolate chip cookies that my mom makes."
My last question was do you have any advice for the young people today on achieving their goals? "Whatever goal you have, work hard and enjoy it. You never know what you can achieve."
I told you how great Todd is, now let me tell you how magnificent he is. Some of the charities Mr. Eldredge is involved with are The Special Olympics and The Jimmy V Foundation for Cancer Research. He feels giving back to the community is important. Part of the Smucker's Stars on Ice tour proceeds will be going to the Boys and Girls Clubs across America. I loved this experience and would like to thank everyone for this once in a lifetime opportunity. If you were wondering, I only fell once and I hope no one saw it. Ha Ha Ha! A special thanks to Todd Eldedge and Kristi Mohrbacher for making this happen. Also thank you to Family Sports Center in Centennial for the ice time.
