Enjoying Colorado on a Budget

It seems that all we hear at home and on the news is people are losing their jobs, homes, and their savings. But my family and I have found some cheap and free ways of having fun in Colorado that I would love to share with you. This past Saturday, my family and I went to Red Rocks. What is Red Rocks? Well, look to the West in the foothills, and see the most beautiful arrangement of red rocks. (Also ask your parent, they may have seen a concert or two up there.) I couldn’t wait to get out of the truck and go exploring. Much to my surprise, my mom parked at the bottom and said we are walking up. ( We are not exactly hiking people, but willing to give it a try.) We found a great trail that led us right against the hugh red rocks. It was amazing to touch something that has been there for hundreds and hundreds of years. Maby even dinosaurs took the same path as we did. The hardest thing to do was picking a path because they all looked like so much fun to explore. We made it all the way up to the amphitheater. We took a much deserved and needed break before making our way back down. It took us half a day to enjoy Red Rocks, it was free, and you didn’t have to pay for parking. Let me share with you some other fun and FREE activities for the whole family. The Denver Art Museum is free the first Saturday of every month, except in July. The Denver Botanic Gardens in Denver is free April 25th, July 20th, September 19th, and October 23rd. The Denver Museum of Nature & Science is free April 19th, May 31st, June 10th, July 13th, August 12th, September 13th, October 4th, November 2nd, and November 22nd. The Denver Zoo is free October 7th, October 25th, November 8th, and November 11th. Remember to bring a Colorado I.D. to get in for free and most places you can take sack lunches and drinks. Please call for times and locations. These are a few activities my family and I enjoy doing and they are FREE! I would like to thank Colorado and everyone involved for giving us free days to enjoy with our families.

  1. I also love Red Rocks!
I also love Red Rocks! Another place my family and I enjoy is Garden of the Gods. It’s similar to red rocks, but unlike it, there are certain spots where you are allowed to climb on the enormous rocks. It’s located in Colorado Springs and it is also a great way to have an awesome, free day!
