When summer rolls around, Colorado gets HOT. We’re talking triple-didget-degrees, air-conditioning-on-full, sunburn-galore HOT. So, what is one to do when one is about to roast? My advice? Make a fruitsmoothie. Companies like Jamba Juice or IntaJuice have long marketed delicious summer blends, but a cheaper version of the classic fruity drink is to make your own. All you need is some milk, a fruit of your choice, and a bit of yoghurt, and you’re set for a super delicious, super nutritious way to keep cool this summer. Here are a couple of my favorites, to be blended all together in a simple food processer. Simple blends…Strawberry ‘n’ Vanilla Smoothie You’ll need: 1cup strawberries 1 cup milk 1 cup vanilla yoghurt (for a little extra sweetness, use Vanilla frozen yoghurt). 1/4 cup strawberry yoghurt Berry Blast Smoothie You’ll need: 1/2 cup strawberries 1/2 cup raspberries 1/4 cup blueberries 1 cup milk 1 cup yoghurt of any flavor Unique Blends Pineapple Citrus Smoothie 1/2 cup pineapple 1/4 cup frozen orange juice concentrate 1/4 cup frozen pineapple juice concentrate 1 tbsp. lemon juice 1 tsp. lime juice 1 cup milk 1 cup vanilla yoghurt Odd Fruit Smoothie 1/2 cup pineapple 1/4 cup mango 1/2 cup frozen orange juice concentrate 1/4 cup strawberries 1 cup milk 1 cup lemon yoghurt Everything-in-the kitchen Smoothie (My favorite!!Make for large groups) 1 cup pineapple 1 banana 1/4 cup mango 1/4 cup strawberries 1/4 cup apple juice 1/4 cup frozen orange juice concentrate 1/4 cup raspberries 1/3 cup Acai nectar 1/3 cup blueberries 1 cup milk 1 cup vanilla yoghurt
