When school starts not only are the kids bumming, but also the bank. According to latimes.com the average family spends $548.72 on supplies. (Including clothes, electronics, and basic supplies.) Here are a few penny-pinching tips to help you save. 1. Reuse Keep, store, and reuse supplies that you didn’t use from the previous year. 2. Go Original Buy the cheaper, plain store brand notebook rather than the glossy one with the puppies on it. Your kids could draw their own puppies, or other designson the cover. 3. Buy in Bulk Just think the bigger the better!! If you have two or more kids, buy the bigger cheaper packages, and distribute as necessary. 4. Want vs. Need Draw the line between what you want and what you need. Some things may be ‘in’ but two weeks later they’ll be ‘out’ of fashion, and out of paper. Confront your children with the question of, “Do you really need this?” Or simply say, ” You want to get it?” “Nope?” “I didn’t think so.”
