Since most of you are starting school you may have to tell about your summer vacation. I went to the holy land of Israel. We started off in Jerusalem probably the most historic place in the world. There is a very big wall surrounding the old city of Jerusalem. The old city is split between four quarters, Jewish, which has the Western Wall from the second temple still standing for nearly two thousand years! The Moslem quarter has markets where people are constantly persuading you to buy stuff. It is so easy to get lost here in the hot, cramped little streets. The old city in Jerusalem has a big connection to the past.I also visited Tel Aviv. This city was celebrating it’s 100th anniversary while I was there. This city was so much different from Jerusalem. It had a whole different culture, downtown was spilling right onto the beaches of the Mediterranean Sea.The beaches had the softest sand I have ever felt, but I learned the hard way that if you swim you better watch out for jelly fish! In the older part of Tel Aviv, Old Yaffo, there were zodiac signs all around and if you could find yours it was good luck. That was my experience in Israel and I hope you though it was interesting.
