This year I’ve read many great books-these are some of them.Streams to the River, River to the Sea by Scott O’ Dell is a historical fiction book about the 1803 expedition of Lewis and Clark to find a Northwest Passage. In this book, Sacagawea, a Native American, tells her story of this journey. She talks about her childhood and how she ended up helping Lewis and Clark. I would recommend this book to middle schoolers because historical events happened that may be hard to understand. Streams to the River, River to the Sea is a great book that captures your attention and will take you on an amazing journey in the eyes of Sacagawea.Habibi by Naomi Shihab Nye is a great book about a girl named Liyana Abboud who has to change her St. Louis lifestyle and move to Palestine. Liyana has to leave behind many things and soon she becomes homesick. After spending time in Palestine, she meets Omer, a Jewish teenager, who soon becomes her friend. During a time of war in the Middle East, Palestinians and Jewish aren’t allowed to be friends. This book is recommended for middle schoolers because some parts may be hard to understand. This is a great book that many people would be able to relate to.Harry Potter and the Sorcerer’s Stone by J.K. Rowling is a great book of mystery and magic that will capture your attention. In this book, Harry Potter finds out he is a wizard that is known as a hero who somehow killed He-Who-Must-Not-Be-Named, or the malicious Voldemort, as a baby. Harry gets excepted into Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry and befriends Ron Weasley and Hermione Granger. Soon they learn that strange things have been happening at Hogwarts and Harry and his friends must solve the mystery. This is a great book that would is recommended for kids eight years old and above. Join Harry, Hermione, and Ron on this magical journey in their first year at Hogwarts.
