There’s so many things that everyone wants to say after a HUGE upset in the NCAA, but really, only one word comes out. Wow. There are many things that live up to their name, and one big sporting event certainly does- March Madness. Quite a few of the favored teams were stunned by upsets. Kansas was overcome by Cinderella in basketball shoes, a.k.a. the UNI panthers (University of Northern Iowa). UNI was lead by #5 Ali Farokhmanesh, who had a team-high of 16 points. On top of that, he had 4 3-pointers, one offense rebound, one steal, and was on the floor for 31 minutes. The senior sealed the deal with his three pointer with 32 seconds left in the 2nd half. There were also some other honorable mentions for the 9th seeded Panthers.1. Johnny Moran. The sophomore went 2 of 3 from 3-point range, and finished with eight points after making two free throws.2. Jordan Egleseder. The big man went 2-3 from 3-point range and added on with 6 other baskets to finish with 14 points.3. Jake Koch. The RS freshman went 7 of 8 from the free throw and finished with a total of 10 points. He struggled from the field; going 1 for 7, but was a key contributor to the Panthers.Overall, it really just wasn’t Cinderella in basketball shoes, but many Cinderella’s who contributed to this upset that will be remembered for years to come.
