Technology is something that advances and evolves throughout the world.
Technology is something that advances and evolves throughout the world. At the Student Showcases on Tuesday, students and teachers from all across the globe demonstrated how students use technology as a study tool. One of the main contributors was the school of Cedros located in Mexico City.
In "Learning Comic Kidz," students learn English grammar and writing by creating comics. The computerized comics are made from photos found on the internet along with English captions. Diego, 11, said, "We help many kids at our school. They look at me and say, 'If he has fun, learns, and is passing English, maybe I can, too.'"
Using GIS (Graphical Information System) 14-year-old Eduardo Hernández and fellow students created useful statistics and graphics relating to the devastating flood that hit Chalco Valley on February 18 th. "We saw the flood and wanted to be able to help and use our technology in a real situation, so we started an investigation on the causes of the flood," he said.
Meanwhile, Isabel Benavides, 14, and Belen Gonzales, 13, demonstrated for onlookers how they were able to mix technology and gastronomy to create "Podcooking." By narrating and video recording each step in the cooking process, the girls were able to put together a complete video recipe. "I think it's a great way to use technology to learn new recipes," Isabel commented. "I really learned a lot."
