Saturday, October 16 at the Tattered Cover I met up with RIck Riordan to talk about his new book “The Lost Hero”. I asked Rick Riordan some questions you all may find interesting to know. His favorite books as a kid was Lord of the Rings.I asked him how many books he expects tosign today. He replied, “300 – 2,000 books most of the time”.I also asked him if he is doing a big tour. Rick is doinga tour throughtwelve U.S. cities and he is also going toEngland.”The Lost Hero” is a lead on series fromPercy Jackson and the Olympians series. It has new characters named Jason, Piper, and Leo.These characters are alsohalf-bloods who go to Camp Half-Blood, they end up meeting with the old characters like Percy and Annabeth. Rick wrote these books because he was a Social Studies and Mythology teacher and found that people like the mythology and would like toread more mythical books. Rick was never really a good kid in school he didn’t do his homework and didn’t pay attention in class much. His eigth gradeSocial Studies teacher changed that for him. She encouraged him to do his work and pay attention. Ever since then Rick had been a good student. He didn’t always want to be a writer he started out as a Social Studies and Mythology teacher. He found that his students love the idea of mythology so that were his inspiration came from. Rick Riordan stated “I was never really a good student, but my eighth grade teacher help me turn that around.” At the Tattered Cover there were over one hundred people waiting to get their book signed. Although kids enjoyed Rick’s books aldults were there to getting their books signed and getting the new one. Rick signed more than books he signed casts and the back of Camp Half-Blood t-shirts.
