With the holiday season approaching, you might travel to your relatives to celebrate. If you are going by yourself, you should have a few ideas of what you should do when you have no one.

1. You should try not to think about your family all the time. That can make you feel homesick, and then you'll be sad for a lot of the trip.

2. If you want, you can have the family members you live with write you letters, and pack them all in your suitcase or backpack. Then, you can open them and read them when you feel like it.

3. Don't be nervous about being away from your family, because once you get where you are staying, you'll have loads of fun.

4. Bring some things to entertain yourself like a book, a small hand held game, a drawing pad, or a journal. This way, when others can't play, you can still have fun.

5. If you have something like a night light at home, pack it in your bag so that when it's time to go to bed, you can feel safe.

6. Have someone you're staying with be your "buddy." They can show you the way around so you don't get lost in a different neighborhood.

7. Stay safe. Ask permission to do something before you try it. Some things may be broken and they might hurt you or others when you try to use them.

8. If there are younger people than you where you are staying, you should be helpful. Maybe you could read them a story or play a game with them.

9. Obey whoever is in charge of you. Don't disrespect them. Do what they tell you to, even if you don't want to. They are just like your parents.

10. Have a good time!
