It has been said that kids who play a musical instrument do better in math and are more active in school activities. My school is right on top of that.
It has been said that kids who play a musical instrument do better in math and are more active in school activities. My school is right on top of that. I have had the honor of being a part of the advanced orchestra at Carmody Middle School. We have Violins, Violas, Bass, and my favorite, the Cello.
I guess you can tell I play the Cello and love it. I took up the Cello a year ago when Mr. Nelson came to my elementary school. The first week he put me in the advanced class and I have been going strong every since. Carmody Orchestra classes are so wonderful that if any one of us students are having trouble, we can ask each other for help. Our teacher, Ms. Huwa, is such an inspiring person, besides orchestra, she teaches all the band classes, choir, and Jazz. Ms. Huwa got us involved with everything out there, like touring other schools to encourage younger students with music and entering competitions to show off our talents. It doesn't matter if we win, as long as we came out of the competition learning something new and we all tried our best.
I hope if your school offers it, everyone tries an instrument or choir. It is a great place to make new friends and try new things. Who knows, someday you may play for the Colorado Symphony Orchestra or write a song for everyone to enjoy. I would like to thank Carmody Middle School, Ms. Huwa, and my family for all the support and encouragement in orchestra.
