In the past few weeks and months you have probably read about vampires or witches and wizards, which are hot topics right now.
In the past few weeks and months you have probably read about vampires or witches and wizards, which are hot topics right now. But the same thing can get boring after a while, Lauren Kate's Fallen series is here to make a change in that area. Although the book is not about wizards or vampires it still centers around the idea of magic while also focusing on the idea of a normal high school. It is a change for people who have been reading things where there is just no 'normal' in the book.
The soon-to-be three book series is made up of "Fallen," "Torment" and soon to be "Passion," and focuses on Lucinda (Luce) Price, when she heads off to Sword and Cross boarding school in Georgia. Luce is shipped off to Sword and Cross when it is rumored that she caused the death of her old boyfriend, Trevor. When Trevor died Luce saw a muddle of shadows above her head and since then she has been seeing them everywhere, in her classes and around one of her few new friends at Sword and Cross, Penn. Luce is trying her best to fit in with her friends Penn and Arriane when she meets the mysterious and handsome Daniel Grigori. Luce wants to be with Daniel more than anything, even though she has no idea why, but Daniel wants nothing to with Luce and he is making it very clear. On the other hand, the über hot Cam can't seem to get enough of Luce, but he's hiding a secret, much like Daniel. Luce want's to find out what they're hiding, but it could cost her her friends, her new school and her life the way she knows. All because of one-thousand-year-old mistake.
I recommend these books for seventh to ninth graders or anyone who likes a good page turner.
