Some people say they're cursed with being to tall. Some say they're cursed with bad luck.
Some people say they're cursed with being to tall. Some say they're cursed with bad luck. Well Emma has a curse too, she has epilepsy, a syndrome that causes you to have uncontrollable seizures. Emma's curse is ruining her life, it has cost her best friends, boy friends and even her drivers license. Until the night it changes everything.
In the book Throat, after a soccer accident, Emma steals her mothers car and goes for a joy ride out in the forest when she crashes and rolls down a hill. When she is finally able to exit the car she finds what appears to be a hunters cabin, she knocks on the door, suspecting to find the hunter who might be able to help her back to her mother and younger sister, Manda.
She was wrong. The man who answers the door is the vampire Wirtz. He attacks Emma, and she thinks she's done for. But the next time she wakes up she's in a hospital bed. Now something is very different about Emma, she can see in the dark, run at blazing speeds and jump to incredible heights. Emma's only explanation is that she is becoming a vampire, but vampires fear the sun, something she does not. Emma believes that she had a high-end seizure while Wirtz attacked her, causing something to scew about her transformation. Now Wirtz is after her because she survived his attack and he wants her dead. To escape his grasp Emma must jump through hoops and make a few friends along the way.
I recommend the book Throat to readers at least 11 years or older because one, it is a THICK book, almost 550 pages and two, the book has some very gruesome descriptions that might not be suitable for younger children.
