In Brighton, Colorado, a new charter school opened its doors, and the people came on rolling in. This school opened in 2010 August, and it is successfully leading its way to the very first school year. Many children either transferred to Foundations from another school, or they possibly transferred to Landmark Academy, a charter school in Reunion.
Foundations is a part of National Heritage Academies, and these schools are preparing students for college. All schools that are apart of the NHA system, follow a dress code and moral focus themes that they talk about each and every day at school. These students follow a creed as well, so they are notified that they are going to have to get ready for the difficult tasks of the day.
A creed is a promise that you always keep in mind. The moral focus themes that these students follow are: Wisdom, Responsibility, Respect, Gratitude, Self-Control, Perseverance, Courage, Encouragement, Compassion, and Integrity.
The school dress code includes: white, burgundy, or powder blue shirts, all tucked in, all with a collar. No shoes or sweaters that consist of any colors besides school code colors. Pants and shorts must be navy blue, or kahki. Simple colors that are pretty typical for a charter school are consisted.
Award ceremonies congratulate students for their individual abilities, and accomplishments that they were able to get awarded for.
The grade levels that this school contains are: Kindergarten, first grade, second grade, third grade, fourth grade, and fifth grade, and each year, the school's grade levels will pile up until the end of middle school.
Foundations Academy was being planned during the 2009-2010 school session. Many people put this whole school together. Some people include: Cathrine Witt, and Joe Hammond, Foundations' current principal. During the school year this successful school was being planned, Joe Hammond scouted some other successful NHA schools, just to get an idea of what his school should consist of.
Now Foundations Academy is almost through the 2010-2011 school year, and are very pleased with their success. Foundations is a highly recommended school, that for being their first year, was an astonishing turn out!
