I had an opportunity to sit down with the author Jane Kurtz for fifteen minutes at the Denver Tech Center Marriott in February. There were several questions that I really enjoyed asking her. I asked her how she got started writing. She answered, “I started writing when I was a kid but I didn’t realize that I wanted to publish until I was reading books to my own kids.”Knowing that she has been to Africa from her blog, I asked her what her favorite experience in Africa was. She answered, “My books state a lot of my experiences in Africa, such as Water Hole Waiting.” This book is about Kurtz watching all the animals come down to the water hole.I asked her “How do recommend getting published?”She said, “Start doing writing activities early so you can build up for later.”When I asked her how she gets her ideas, she said, “Memory, observation and research.”I asked her about her bestselling book and she said it was the 2010 American Girl of the year, Lanie.
