You may have seen normal press conferences where sport journalists interview Denver Broncos running back Knowshon Moreno, but have you ever seen one where kids run the show? At the Invesco Field Media Room on February 16, various schools across Denver sent a few of their students to interview Denver Bronco Knowshon Moreno. Then, after learning all about a healthy lifestyle from him, would report back to their school on what they learned.
The interview with Knowshon was set up by the Western Dairy Association and the Denver Broncos. It was based on the program "Fuel Up to Play 60" to encourage kids to find a healthy lifestyle that they can enjoy. When I attended the conference, I heard so many things from Knowshon that I would have never expected. Before Knowshon appeared, all the reporters seemed nervous, yet anxious to meet a professional NFL player. Even the parents couldn't wait. Finally, the announcer introduced Knowshon into the press room and everyone was ecstatic. The music played in the background while he danced to it. Some students were taking pictures, many were cheering and clapping, and all were ready to start the press conference.
As Knowshon reached the podium and everyone settled down, he told the students to "loosen up a little bit" and "have some fun!" He introduced himself as the crowd listened intently. Additionally, Knowshon brought so much humor and fun into the conference that completely engaged the crowd. When the interview started, each student reporter had a chance to ask him one or two questions. Several students asked about activities he enjoyed besides football. He responded by saying he likes bowling, basketball, video games, running with his dog, and chess. They also questioned him on activities that he would recommend for middle school students. Knowshon stated that any activity that gets your body moving is great. He said that he likes to play his Kinect, although you should only do that "after you finish your homework!" Another common question among the kids was about his diet and what he would recommend for kids. One of the questions that I thought had an interesting answer from Knowshon was about what he wanted to be as a kid. He replied by saying that he wanted to be a basketball player, a firefighter, and many others. There was also the neat question of why he chose Georgia as his college since he was from New Jersey. Another question a reporter asked was about, after seeing many posts on Twitter about his love of working out, where he got that love from.
With humor and enthusiasm, Broncos Running back Knowshon Moreno made everyone smile as well as taught kids about the importance of a healthy diet and exercise routine. For more information on how you can maintain a healthy lifestyle, go to http://www.fueluptoplay60.com/.
