IntroductionI recently read the book Dormia, a teen novel by Jake Halpern and Peter Kujawinski and loved it to the ends of the earth. It provided one of the greatest reading experiences I’ve ever read – it was so fascinating and impressive, the way that the authors portrayed Alfonso (the main character) and his adventure with the Dormian Bloom. It’s quite a long book (500 or so pages) and very complex. In any case, I hope you pick this book up – it’s certainly a page-turner and an eye-opener!———- Not every day do you come across a plant (that’s right – a plant) to determine life or death. In this 500 page novel, the book Dormia by Jake Halpern and Peter Kujawinski describe the life of a plant, the Dormian Bloom, and how it has changed a boy, Alfonso, and the entire city, Dormia. Dormia, an innovative idea and creative story offers an ingenious and engaging supplement to the Teen’s reading section.Synopsis The story starts with a boy named Alfonso. Anything and everything about Alfonso’s life is normal, except for one thing: He accomplishes amazing feats in his sleep. Sleepwalking? No. Sleep-adventuring? Yes. Therefore, it is no surprise when his sleeping self begins getting up at night in its usual sleeping trance and starts to plant a peculiar phenomenon: what will later be known as the legendary Dormian bloom. Alfonso’s adventure to save this Dormian Bloom keeps readers turning the pages – until the very end of the book. It will take all his courage and persistence to protect such a plant.Read this Before Picking up DormiaDormia is sure to please any avid reader that loves fantasy, action, and excitement. It seems to be most appropriate for readers ages 11+. There are no inappropriate words and/or actions, and is perfect for a lengthy read for a vacation or break. This book was truly outstanding in the teen reading world, and I would recommend it to anyone willing to take on a fabulous adventure will keep them turning the page to the very end.Highly recommended! 5/5 stars, without a doubt…** Dormia is part of a current three book seriers. The second in the series is World’s End, followed by the soon-to-be-released one called The Shadow Tree. If you truly enjoyed Dormia, be sure to check out its website: http://www.worldofdormia.com.
